The London Underground this morning. The very courteous loud speakerman announces boldly as a train arrives to a pakced platformful of passengers at around 11.30am...."Would customers please use all available doors".
Of course, gapplies fans will immediately recognise the howler that this is. No one set of ear, no one human being can hear the announced message without hooting like a hooter. It is impossible for one person to "use all available doors"!!!!!!!! Why is the voiceinthesky talking to "a crowd" and not to individual human beings.
